Sounds of Future Past: Daphne Oram Workshop at hcmf//
Description
Yorkshire Sound Women Network and the Daphne Oram Trust are inviting participants to make music from the archive of electronic pioneer Daphne Oram (1925–2003). The Trust has curated a sample pack from Oram's own tapes (1956–74): music, sound design and spoken word from the era when she co-founded the BBC Radiophonic Workshop and set up Tower Folly, the first electronic studio founded by a woman. Led by artist Sophie Cooper, the group will explore the samples and improvise a new collective piece. No experience needed and all kit provided, though participants can bring their own. *Who can attend:* Women (cis and trans) and gender-diverse people, 18+ 📅 Thu 26 November, 7–9pm 📍 Phipps Hall, Richard Steinitz Building, University of Huddersfield 🎟️ Free
